Weston Thompson

Snapshot of me from 2004 - I just ate a great meal at a restaurant in Monterosso in the Italian Cinque Terre. In January 2007, I started a new position as an Information Architect for The Capital Group, a leading investment management company based in downtown Los Angeles. I am part of the web team for the American Funds family of mutual funds. The team designs and manages the public shareholder site, a gated site for financial advisers who sell American Funds, and a series of sites for institutional retirement plans and their members. I will be working mostly on the adviser site.

From June 2005 through January 2007, I was an Information Architect for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online (WDPRO) in North Hollywood (recently relocated to Glendale). At WDPRO, I was part of a large team of information architects designing web sites and applications for sites such as disneyworld.com, disneyland.com, and disneycruiseline.com. Along the way, I was responsible for site maps, personas and scenarios, navigation flows, wireframes, interaction specifications, and interactive prototypes.

Prior to working for Disney, I was the Associate Director for Web Services within Information Systems and Technology at Claremont McKenna College (1999-2005). I had overall responsibility for the college web site, enterprise portal, and managed the CMC Web Team. Within projects, I covered information architecture, interaction design, and usability. Prior to working at CMC, I was an archivist and records manager for five years (University of Kentucky and University of Illinois at Chicago). I have my master's degree from the University of Michigan School of Information and Library Studies with a focus in archival administration.
